A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His defensive approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He saved four early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
